Why Choose a Label Printer?

If you rarely need to print labels a standard laser or inkjet printer is fine. Various size labels are available in sheets that can be fed into the printer. Unfortunately, the cost per sheet is expensive and using sheets of labels creates a high percentage of waste.

Customers who need to print labels every day are best served using a label printer. Label printers are designed to print one label at a time using either rolls of labels or fanfold stock. The cost per label using sheets is about four times higher than buying labels by the roll without accounting for all the unused sheet labels that wind up in the trash.

Label printers are also more versatile than laser or inkjet. Labels start printing immediately and can produce as many as 12 one-inch high labels per second or 720 labels per minute. The printers can also optionally cut labels individually or in batches. Label printers can also be configured to self-peel a label from its backing and present the label to be removed and placed on a package or carton.
